This section details the specific responsibilities users must uphold when using YCS technology and network resources, focusing on safety, security, and resource management.

  • Personal Safety and Privacy:
    • Users must not share personal contact information (e.g., address, phone number, email) about themselves or others.
    • Personal photos or work can only be published with a signed district release form.
    • Users should not arrange to meet individuals met online without appropriate approval and must report inappropriate contacts to school authorities.
    • Students under 18 must be supervised by a parent or guardian when accessing YCS accounts outside of school.
  • Security:
    • Users are responsible for securing their individual accounts and must not share passwords.
    • Any security issues must be reported immediately to school authorities. Attempting to identify security flaws may be considered an illegal act.
    • Users must avoid spreading computer viruses and only use storage devices (e.g., USB drives) that have been scanned and confirmed virus-free.
  • Respecting Resource Limits:
    • The network is to be used solely for educational or career development activities.
    • Downloading large files or streaming videos or music is prohibited unless approved by the YCS technology coordinator. Educational videos from specified platforms (e.g., Learn 360) are permitted.
    • Users must not send chain letters or unnecessary messages or subscribe to irrelevant discussion groups.
  • Teacher Responsibilities:
    • Teachers must select age-appropriate and relevant materials for our scholars and preview content to ensure suitability.
    • Internet access by students must be monitored by a teacher or staff member, with monitors visible or teachers circulating among computers in use.
