YCS - Education Department Parent Letter
As you may have heard, the President has signed an executive order instructing the U.S. Department of Education to begin the process of closing the agency. Understandably, this news has created uncertainty about the future of education at the federal, state, and local levels. First and foremost, we want to assure you that our top priority remains the education and well-being of our scholars.

In this quarterly update, Superintendent Dr. Alina Zachary Ross shares exciting district progress, beginning with gratitude for community support of the CTE millage passage. League Leadership Reflection: In Digital Promise’s latest blog post, Dr. Alena Zachery-Ross, superintendent of Ypsilanti Community Schools (Michigan), reflects on her first year as a member of the League, where she found a responsive professional learning network that aligned with her district’s needs and leadership goals. From addressing the unique challenges of a transitioning district to launching a cutting-edge AI learning studio, Zachery-Ross and her team experienced real, on-the-ground change through partnership, collaboration, and shared purpose.
The district is excited to announce the Grand Opening of a new dual-language Spanish immersion school that will serve students in grades K-5, with plans to eventually expand up to grade 8.
We are asking for your input in naming this innovative language school that will serve our scholars. Please submit your recommendations by June 13th.

The Board will consider the recommendations and have a discussion at their board workshop at 5:30 pm on Monday, June 16th. The name will be selected at their Regular Board of Education Meeting at 6:30 pm on Monday, June 16th.
