Musical Theater Productions
Musical Theatre Productions brings the stage to life through a hands-on exploration of acting, vocal performance, dance, technical theatre, and live production. Students experience what it takes to transform an idea from the rehearsal room into a fully realized performance while developing confidence, creativity, collaboration, and leadership.
Students have opportunities to contribute both onstage and behind the scenes, gaining experience in performance, stage management, set and prop design, lighting, sound, costumes, choreography, and other elements of theatrical production. Through rehearsals, collaborative projects, and live performances, students learn how individual creative roles come together to create one unified production.
A major focus of the course is the development and production of the school’s annual musical, along with additional performing arts events and productions throughout the year.

Whether students see themselves under the spotlight, behind the soundboard, backstage, or leading the entire production, Musical Theatre Productions gives them an opportunity to discover their role in creating live entertainment.
Ryan Bowie, Lead Instructor
Ryan A. Bowie is a vocalist, music director, and educator with more than 15 years of experience in performance and vocal coaching. He has directed music for community theatre productions and helped bring musical theatre back to YCHS with Sister Act Jr. In Musical Theatre Productions, he guides students through the work of creating a show, onstage and behind the scenes.
