Mr. Daniel Young

It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as the principal of Ypsilanti International Elementary School. I am thrilled to partner with our dedicated staff, scholars, and families as we build upon YIES’s strong culture of academic excellence.

My journey in education began in 2002. After spending 18 rewarding years in Detroit, I have spent the past six years right here in Ypsilanti Community Schools at Ford STEAM Early Learning Center. Having served as a teacher, lead teacher, assistant principal, principal, and preschool director, my passion centers on strong instructional practices, collaborative leadership, and authentic family partnerships that directly support student success.

Together, we will align our focus with the YCS Strategic Plan Priorities, working intentionally to Accelerate Academic Excellence, Advance Future-Ready Preparedness, and Allocate Resources Equitably. Grounding our work in these priorities, paired with the IB programming and framework will ensure every scholar receives the high-quality education they deserve.
