Bright Futures has quickly integrated into the culture of high achievement and perseverance at Washtenaw International Middle Academy to create an enriching, safe and exciting after-school program available for 5th – 8th-grade students at our school. Our big goal is to help students challenge themselves as scholars, creators, and leaders as they mature into open-minded young adults and prepare for success in high school and beyond. Our program runs Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

 Each day, students participating in Bright Futures participate in several key components of our afterschool program at WIMA. In addition to assistance with homework and projects, we emphasize a tutoring model that focuses on “soft skills”. We find that helping students understand that their intelligence can be developed with a growth mindset is highly effective in achieving success in middle school. A typical day consists of community building, academic time with homework help and tutoring, and club time. One of the most popular components of Bright Futures programming is the variety of enrichment clubs that we offer WIMA students.
