WHAT IS NAAPID?

NAAPID is a national call to action to get African American parents more involved in their children's education. It is expected that this national observation will open up dialogue among teachers, parents, and students, which will lead to a more conducive learning environment for African American students from kindergarten through college.

Here at YIES we will celebrate parent involvement day by having Drummunity visit our school.

What is Drummunity? is a high energy, fun and empowering activity for any group. Lori Fithian, drum circle facilitator and workshop leader, will bring her collection of hand drums and percussion toys to your location to transform your community into a “Drummunity” – a word she invented for the community-building that happens when people come together around a circle of drums.

Drummunity! School Visit 9:00 AM to 2:45 PM in the gym.

Parents will be able to join the drum circle at their student's schduled time.
